GROWING PRACTICES

Fort Hill Farm is certified organic by Baystate Organic Certifiers. We also adhere to the growing and labor standards encompassed within the NOFA Farmers’ Pledge, and have joined the Real Organic Project. Our growing systems are based on time-honored, ecologically sound agricultural principles that build healthy soils, such as composting, crop rotation, and the addition of rock mineral powders.

We believe that good growing begins with healthy soil and organic production is synonymous with soil-grown food. In the same way that organic methods protect insect diversity and contribute to the local web ecology, the intricate and mutually beneficial relationships between soil organisms and plants enhance a crop’s flavor and nutrition.

Folks love the taste of our produce and have come to expect this high quality from us. We lovingly grow all of our crops directly on the farm, and we are proud of our efforts to steward the land.

We always encourage you to ask questions of your local growers about where and how your food is grown.
